Please Welcome Our APAC Events Coordinator from Sydney, Isobel McCaffery

Isobel McCaffery is a Security Studies student at Macquarie University with a growing focus on cybersecurity, risk, and governance. Her interest in the field stems from a curiosity about how organisations anticipate threats, manage cyber risk, and build resilient systems in an increasingly digital world.
Through her studies and industry projects, Isobel has worked with frameworks such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and MITRE ATT&CK, applying them to real world risk and controls analysis. She has also conducted open source intelligence research and produced analytical writing on cybersecurity topics.
Isobel is particularly interested in the intersection of cybersecurity, governance, and strategic decision making, and is driven by a strong curiosity to keep learning about emerging threats and security challenges.
Isobel was part of the CyAN Global Mentorship Program, September 2025 cohort, where she was mentored by CyAN Vice President Kim Chandler McDonald. The mentorship quickly developed into a strong professional relationship and opened the door for deeper involvement within the CyAN community.
Following the programme, Isobel has now joined the CyAN APAC team as Events Coordinator. In this role she will support the organisation of CyAN’s quarterly in person events in Sydney, helping strengthen the regional cybersecurity community and expand engagement across the APAC network.
Under the guidance of Kim Chandler McDonald and the broader CyAN leadership team, Isobel continues to grow her network and contribute to the community.
Please join us in welcoming our new APAC Events Coordinator, Isobel McCaffery.
