The public- and the private sector joined forces to develop tactics against IPR crimes

GALYATETO – (November 2017) A 2 days workshop was held for judges, prosecutors and investigators about the recent developments of intellectual property crimes. The program also included mock case solving for the 60 attendees, including international representatives and right holders. The mock project aimed at defining procedural challenges and drawing conclusions for practical development for a more effective law enforcement. Dr. Greg Dzsinich (CyAN Board Member) was the moderator for the mock project and delivered a key note speech about cryptographic challenges of cyber dependant IPR crimes (including crypto financial- and anonym communication methods). It can be stated that the digital world clearly created a new battlefield, new types of criminality / criminals, new ways of criminal psychology driven intentions, and most importantly new methods to create a safer digital world. It is proved that these challenges require such an advisory which is capable to deliver a multi-disciplinary experience based support. In his keynote, Greg highlighted that IPR related crimes seem to be the softest of the cyber (dependant) crimes, but organized crime groups can smartly utilize this field for gaining more money for their more serious activities, thus “IPRs crimes are highly  important, they shall be determined and qualified as a very key feeding part of a much more serious crime matrix”.
